COLLABERATIVE
DESIGN
On earth there is nothing new under the sun. So it is up to the designers to trawl our planet for new ideas. These new shapes and ideas can be found in plants, the ocean, looking through an electron microscope, studying insects and flowers. So that we can improve the quality of our built world, learning from worlds that have been functional for a long time. Our structures can become more integrated with our environment rather than a cancerous blight to a perfect landscape.
Design should be a shared collaborative process - because more minds working in the same direction seem to unravel more of earth’s mysteries. When humans work against each other we shut this process down. When engaging with your client is when ideas flow easily – sitting in an office or on your own rarely produces the end product. We as humans seem to shine in the midst of each other and I am sure we were designed to work together with common goals. Tapping into each other’s thought processes whilst working together to solve design issues – creates a super computer far beyond the individual.
